Internally threaded anchor: the complete guide

An internally threaded anchor is a drop-in anchor with an internal thread: you drill a hole, insert the anchor, and expand it with a dedicated setting tool. Once installed, a flush internal (female) thread remains in the ceiling or wall, into which a threaded rod, hook or any other element is screwed.

The advantage: the anchor stays flush with the concrete surface with no protrusion, and the suspended element is installed after anchoring — and can be replaced without touching the anchor. Ideal for overhead suspension, piping, sprinklers and hangers.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between HE-HO and HE-CL?
The difference is the collar. HE-HO comes without a collar, while HE-CL has a collar that helps with fixing and identifying the installation depth. In terms of performance and approvals — they are identical.
Is the HE anchor suitable for a Spancrete (hollow-core slab) ceiling?
Only in the HE-HC version, which is specially designed for Spancrete ceilings, hollow-core concrete and prestressed concrete. The other versions in the series are not approved for ceilings of this type.
What is the difference between the HE internally threaded anchor and the TFF internally threaded concrete screw?
HE is a drop-in anchor: the sleeve stays permanently in the concrete after installation, and only the male screw inserted into it can be removed and replaced. TFF is a directly threaded concrete screw: it cuts a thread into the concrete and can be fully removed and reused.
Can the suspended element be replaced?
Yes. This is the main advantage of the internally threaded anchor — the element is screwed into the internal thread and can be removed and replaced without touching the anchor itself.
Which version is suitable for an outdoor environment?
HE-NS comes hot-dip galvanized, suitable for outdoor, humid and coastal environments. For especially aggressive environments there is also an SS316 stainless steel version.
