How the calculation is built
The tool selects an anchor for stone cladding in a system of bonding with mechanical fixing, and is intended for structural engineers and cladding designers. It is built from five modules and no more, entered in a fixed order, each of which sets a value that feeds into the choice of anchor — so there is no field in it that is there for the record alone.
Project details
The opening module carries the identification of the calculation, so that the output is a document that can go into the project file and not a result cut loose from its context. In choosing an anchor for cladding this is a practical condition: the same structure is examined again at a later stage, and you need to know what the original choice rested on.
Building location
Location is not an address detail. It is what fixes the seismic data that will enter the calculation later, which is why it is entered before any geometric value — the same stone slab on the same wall does not carry the same demand in two different regions.
Building dimensions
The building dimensions fix the height and the perimeter over which the cladding is spread — and from there the conditions under which the anchor is examined at the point being checked.
The stone
The stone module defines the stone slab itself. Because the system is bonding with mechanical fixing, it is the stone data that decide what is required of the mechanical fixing alongside the bonding — two components checked as one system and not as two separate decisions.
Seismic load — SI 413 (2023)
The last module calculates the seismic load to the 2023 edition of SI 413, the Israeli standard, on the basis of the building location and dimensions entered earlier. This is the governing condition in stone cladding, and working to the current edition of the standard is the difference between a valid calculation and one that is not. The tool’s result is the anchor selected for the combination entered across the five modules.
