MAMADSOFT — Design of internal lining and cladding systems in a protected room (mamad) to SI 5075

MAMADSOFT is a free online program from Adit (ADIT), intended for engineers, architects and contractors in Israel, for the design of the internal cladding systems of a protected space to SI 5075 (the Israeli standard), February 2021, with Amendment Sheet No. 1 (November 2022). The program runs in the browser, with no installation and no registration.

What the program calculates

  • Selection of the cladding system for the walls and the ceiling of the protected space, from all the systems included in the standard.
  • The layer build-up and the thickness of each layer, against the thickness limits of the relevant chapter of the standard.
  • Framing layout: centre-to-centre spacing of the profiles and the studs, board screw spacings, fixing points to the wall and to the tracks.
  • Selection of the concrete screw and its verification to EN 1992-4, including the required screw length and the penetration into the concrete.
  • Openings — protected room door and protected room window: area deduction, framing of the opening, leaf studs, frame head and threshold.
  • A full bill of quantities: profiles by size, boards, screws, anchors, washers and reinforcing mesh.
  • A printed calculation report in A4 format, with the clause behind every requirement.

The cladding systems included in SI 5075

  • Cement plaster system (Chapter C) — total thickness up to 25 mm on walls and up to 7 mm on ceilings.
  • Gypsum plaster system (Chapter D) — up to 20 mm on walls, reinforcing mesh where the thickness is greater than 7 mm.
  • Thermal plaster system (Chapter E) — walls only, up to 70 mm, thermal plaster "400".
  • Gypsum boards anchored during casting (clause 6.2, Table 2) — omega profiles or plastic profiles, ICF method.
  • Gypsum boards on studs after casting (clause 6.3, Table 3) — 37/40 studs anchored with concrete screws.
  • Ceiling cladding in gypsum boards (clause 6.4, Table 4) — 47/17 profiles on hanging plates or angle brackets.
  • Gypsum boards as "lost" formwork (clause 6.5, Table 5) — channel profiles 0.8 mm thick.
  • "Aggregate cement" boards with two meshes (Chapter G, Table 6) — fire classification A1.
  • Lightweight thermal insulation boards and autoclaved aerated concrete (Chapter H, Table 7).
  • Thermo-acoustic boards of cement and wood wool (Chapter I).
  • Acoustic insulation tiles of glass wool or of polyester (Chapter J, Table 8).

What is checked in every design

  • The thickness of each layer and the total thickness of the system against the limits of the standard.
  • Maximum spacings between profiles, between screws and between fixing points, according to the table for the system selected.
  • Concrete screw diameter (≥ 6 mm), its length (≥ 50 mm in Tables 3, 4 and 6) and its penetration into the concrete (≥ 40 mm, clause 2.6).
  • Pull-out force requirements: 0.17 kilonewton in Table 7, 315 newton in clause 7.2.3, and in the ceiling 4 times the load and not less than 800 newton.
  • The properties of the reinforcing mesh according to Chapter K, and the requirements for the adhesive and the bonding layer according to the relevant chapter.
  • Reaction to fire — insulation materials of classes A1, A2 and B only (clause 2.3).
  • The number of site tests according to Table 9, and permissible deviations according to Table 11.

The concrete screws

The anchor design is carried out to EN 1992-4, design method A: concrete cone failure, pull-out failure, steel failure, pry-out and the effect of the distance from the concrete edge. The characteristic data are taken from approval ETA-20/0046 for Adit’s concrete screws — TFE, THE and TXE in stainless steel. The "suggest a solution" function returns the smallest and shortest screw that passes all the checks at the maximum spacing permitted by the standard, that is, the lowest quantity.

The report

The report is produced as a printed A4 document containing the project data, a drawn section through the system, the layer table, the framing layout, the anchor design with every formula and the clause behind it, a compliance table for all the requirements checked, the bill of quantities, site tests and a declaration of conformity to SI 5075. It can be saved as a PDF file directly from the browser.

Subordination to the requirements of the Home Front Command

SI 5075 was drawn up in cooperation with the Home Front Command, and everything required in it is subject to the requirements of the Home Front Command. The program checks the requirements of the standard and the anchor design; it does not carry out blast analysis. Cladding systems, or parts of systems, that are not included in the standard require approval for use from a person so authorised by the Minister of Defence.

What is SI 5075?

The Israeli standard for systems of internal linings and claddings in protected spaces. It applies to the cladding systems applied to the walls and ceilings of protected spaces, and defines both the requirements for the materials and the requirements for the applied system.

What is the minimum embedment depth of a concrete screw in a protected room?

According to clause 2.6, the penetration of the concrete screw into the concrete wall shall be at least 40 mm and in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements, and the screw diameter shall be at least 6 mm. In addition, Tables 3, 4 and 6 require a screw length of at least 50 mm.

What is the maximum spacing between the studs in gypsum cladding in a protected room?

In cladding after casting on galvanised sheet steel studs, the spacing between the studs shall not exceed 406 mm (Table 3). Where the anchoring is during casting, with omega profiles — up to 500 mm, and with plastic profiles — up to 200 mm (Table 2).

Is the program paid for?

No. Use is free and without registration. The program was developed by Adit as a service to engineers in Israel.

Can anchors from another manufacturer be used?

The database includes Adit’s concrete screws only. The prescriptive design to the standard can be carried out with any concrete screw holding an ETA suitable for cracked concrete, entering its approval data manually in an external calculation.

Scope

This software applies to construction in Israel only. It is written to the Israeli standard SI 5075, and the calculator interface itself is in Hebrew.
