What is a Trumpet-Head Self-Drilling Screw?
A self-drilling screw drills its own hole and forms the fastening in one pass – no pre-drilling and no separate drill bit. A trumpet (bugle) head has a curved, cone-shaped underside that pulls smoothly flush into thin sheet and soft cladding without tearing the surface. The ADIT BCP combines the two: a fast, flush thin-sheet fixing, offered in a range of coloured and stainless finishes to match the panel.
The advantage: a clean, flush finish into thin sheet and cladding, in one pass – with a colour-matched or stainless head to suit the material.
BCP has a trumpet countersunk head (114°) with a Phillips PH2 drive, in diameter ST 4.2, in lengths 14 and 23 mm. The carbon-steel versions are C1035 with a cold-galvanized finish and drill and fasten steel and aluminium up to 4.4 mm; the stainless BCP A2 is A2 (SS304), passivated, for aluminium up to 2.0 mm where corrosion resistance is required.

Installation Guide
1 · Mark & position
Mark the fixing point and hold the screw perpendicular (90°) to the surface.
2 · Set the speed
Carbon BCP in steel: roughly 1000–1800 rpm. Stainless BCP-A2: roughly 600–1000 rpm. Use a matching PH2 bit.
3 · Drill through
Let the drill point cut fully through before the thread engages; keep steady axial pressure.
4 · Seat flush
Drive until the trumpet head pulls flush into the sheet – do not overtighten or the head can tear thin material.
Frequently Asked Questions
Five: BCP-Z (zinc-plated), BCP-B (white), BCP-N (black), BCP-CB (coloured) in carbon steel, and BCP-A2 in A2 stainless. Choose the coated finish to match the panel, or the stainless version where corrosion resistance is needed.
Both give a flush fixing, but the head is different. BCP has a curved trumpet (bugle) head that sinks into thin sheet and cladding; ABP has a flat 80-degree countersunk head and drills thicker material (up to 5.25 mm). Use BCP for thin sheet and panels, ABP for general flush fixings.
The carbon-steel BCP drills and fastens steel or aluminium up to 4.4 mm in a single pass; the stainless BCP-A2 is for aluminium up to 2.0 mm. Both are diameter ST 4.2 in lengths 14 and 23 mm.
Use BCP-A2 (A2, SS304 stainless) for exterior, humid or aluminium work; it resists corrosion. The zinc-plated and coated carbon versions are for standard interior and dry fixings.
Nrk is the characteristic failure load; Nrd is the design load the engineer uses – Nrk divided by the safety factors required by the relevant standard. Always design with Nrd. The datasheet lists Nrk, Nrd and recommended (Nrec) values.
