Overview

The SDS MAX drill extension is a professional Milwaukee accessory used to lengthen the working reach of an SDS MAX rotary hammer. It fits between the hammer and the SDS MAX drill bit, so you can reach the required depth when the bit alone is not long enough — for example when drilling deep holes for through-bolts, resin capsules, injection anchors or post-installed rebar, or when the tool body cannot get close enough to the surface.

It uses the standard SDS MAX shank system on both ends: an SDS MAX shank that locks into the machine, and an SDS MAX receiver that accepts a standard SDS MAX drill bit or chisel. Because it relies on the same hammering interlock as the tool itself, full percussion energy is transmitted through the extension to the bit.

When to use an SDS MAX extension

On many anchoring jobs the depth of the hole exceeds the useful length of a standard drill bit, or the tool body simply cannot reach into a recess, shaft or deep pocket. Rather than buying an over-length special bit, the extension lets you keep using standard, economical SDS MAX bits while adding the reach you need. It is equally useful for chiselling and demolition work in confined or deep locations.

Because the SDS MAX system is designed for heavy percussion, the extension is best matched to medium and large rotary hammers where deep drilling in reinforced concrete is a routine requirement.
